The CD-Soft Watering kit for the BBC micro:bit is a great product for people who love plants but are sometimes forgetful when it comes to watering them. The prong soil moisture sensor, which is attached to the micro:bit, senses whether the soil's moisture level is too low and needs watering, if the plant does require water the pump will start, if not, the sensor will continue to read the soils moisture level in ajustable intervals set by you while programing the micro:bit. If you are a beginner when it comes to micro:bit or creating circuits the manual under free resources will guide you step by step to build the watering kit and to code your micro:bit using makecode or python.
The prong soil moisture sensor works by using the relationship between electrical resistance and water content to gauge the water moisture levels of the soil. The relay in the circuit is an electronic switch controlled by electrical signals and will complete the electrical circuit and make the water pump run, the relay turns on when it receives a high signal from the micro:bit, the high signal being the soil moisture is too low.
