Description

The Bambu Lab X2D is a next-generation dual-nozzle 3D printer built for speed, precision, and versatility. Inspired by the proven capabilities of the H2D, the X2D takes multi-material and multi-colour printing to the next level with a refined dual-extrusion system that delivers cleaner transitions and greater reliability.

Whether you're prototyping functional parts or creating complex, multi-material designs, the X2D is engineered to handle demanding prints with ease—making advanced fabrication more accessible than ever.

Features

Dual Nozzle System

The primary nozzle focuses on printing the model, while the secondary nozzle takes care of supports. With the X2D, all support material is handled by a dedicated nozzle using its own filament. This allows you to fully support steep overhangs, intricate folds, and internal channels—then remove the supports cleanly with minimal effort.

X2D Dual Nozzle System
Multi-Material Print

Multi-Material Printing

A hanging planter that bends, not breaks. A bag with integrated zippers and decorative details. An action figure with joints that move naturally.

Flexible TPU. Rigid PLA. All in a single print.

Lightest Dual Nozzle System Ever!

Instead of relying on conventional motor-driven systems, the X2D integrates a compact Gear-and-Trigger mechanism directly into the toolhead. A simple press of the nozzle-change lever engages the trigger arm, activating an internal gear train to swap nozzles—no added motors, no unnecessary weight, just a seamless transition.

The result is a lighter toolhead with reduced inertia and vibration. Even at high speeds, prints maintain exceptional surface quality from the first layer to the very top.

Light Dual Nozzle System
Cooling Intakes

Two Intakes for Cooling

Two intakes outperform one. As freshly extruded filament remains soft, the X2D rapidly floods the chamber with cool air through dual left and right intakes. This continuous airflow stabilises each layer—especially for low-temperature materials like PLA—cooling every line at precisely the right time. The result is sharper overhangs and cleaner bridges, even on the most challenging geometries.

300°C Nozzles & 65°C Active Chamber Heating

The X2D combines a 300 °C high-performance nozzle with a 65 °C actively heated chamber—ideal for printing a wide range of engineering materials like ABS, ASA, and nylon. Beyond just reaching high temperatures, the actively controlled chamber ensures uniform heat distribution throughout the build volume, promoting consistent layer adhesion across every part of the print. The result is large, engineering-grade components that are both strong and dimensionally stable.

Heated Chamber
Adaptive Flow Calibration

Adapting Calibration

Most 3D printers rely on a single K factor for flow calibration and apply it universally. Bambu Lab takes a different approach. Flow Dynamics Calibration³ creates a time-varying, nonlinear model of the entire extrusion system, continuously adapting to real-world conditions. Whether it’s slight nozzle residue, gradual wear, or minor filament moisture, the system detects and compensates automatically. The result isn’t just better prints—it’s consistent smooth surfaces and sharp details, every time.

PMSM Servo System

As filament is driven through the extruder, the gears naturally bite into its surface, creating small pressure variations that can appear as fine lines on prints. Bambu Lab’s exclusive PMSM servo system⁵ actively eliminates this effect. Sampling resistance and position at 20 kHz, it dynamically adjusts electromagnetic torque in real time—smoothing out micro-fluctuations before they can impact surface quality.

PMSM Servo
X2D AI Cameras

AI Cameras

Before printing begins, the AI Liveview Camera and Toolhead Camera inspect the build plate to detect debris and confirm proper placement. During the print, they continuously monitor for issues like spaghetti failures, nozzle buildup, and purge chute blockages—automatically pausing the job to prevent wasted time and material.

31 Sensors

31 sensors are distributed across the entire system, continuously monitoring the material path, print process, thermal conditions, and overall machine safety. Every factor that can impact print quality is tracked, analysed, and actively managed in real time.

X2D 31 Included Sensors
Air Filtration System

Three-Stage Filtration System

The X2D features a three-stage filtration system that operates during every print. A G3 pre-filter, H12 HEPA filter, and coconut-shell activated carbon layer work together to minimise odors and capture airborne particles. Built on the same trusted system found in H Series printers, it keeps your workspace quiet, clean, and ready for everyday use.

Quick-Swap Nozzle

Swap nozzles in seconds—no tools, no fuss. The redesigned hotend makes switching to a high-flow option or different nozzle size quick and intuitive, even for first-time users.

dB Reading

Quiet by Design

Thanks to Active Motor Noise Canceling and optimised air duct design, the X2D runs at under 50 dB—quiet enough for overnight printing or use in shared spaces without disturbance.

One million switches. Still smooth.

The X2D’s dual-nozzle system has surpassed 1,000,000 switch cycles in life-cycle testing, delivering consistently smooth and reliable performance. Engineered for long-term durability, it’s built to perform for years to come.

FAQs

What are the main differences between the X2D and X1-Carbon?

X2D is X1-Carbon's next chapter. It adds a dual-nozzle system for up to 25-colour printing, an actively heated chamber (up to 65 °C) for engineering filaments, a servo extruder with real-time flow sensing, filament tangle detection, expanded AI monitoring with both liveview and toolhead cameras, and support for Vision Encoder–based motion accuracy calibration. Everything that made X1-Carbon great - refined and taken further.

Are the left and right hotends identical?

Yes, the left and right hotends are identical in structure and components, and can be used interchangeably between left and right positions.

What is the function of the chamber exhaust fan on the X2D's rear panel?

It actively extracts air from the chamber. In Cooling Mode (PLA and other low-temp filaments), it works with the adaptive airflow system to dissipate heat and expel fumes. After printing high-temp filaments, enable "Purify Air At Print End" to clear residual fumes - optionally routing them outdoors via a ventilation pipe.

What is the maximum number of AMS units the X2D can connect to?

Single hotend: Supports up to 4 AMS 2 Pro and 8 AMS HT units (12 units total, 24 slots).

Dual hotends: Enables up to 25-colour printing when combined with the maximum AMS configuration.

Can X2D use the AMS hub?

No they are incompatible. The interface types are different.

Is the X2D's build plate compatible with those of X/P/A series printers?

The X2D supports all current Bambu Lab 256 mm × 256 mm build plates. It does not recognise 1st-generation build plates. If the printer fails to detect the build plate type, manually select "Ignore" or disable build plate detection in the on-screen settings.

Does the X2D support high-flow nozzles?

Yes. High-flow hotends maintain print quality while significantly increasing print speed, reducing print time by up to 30% compared with standard nozzles.

What's the advantage of having two extruders?

The main extruder (in the toolhead) handles precise flow control. Auxiliary Extruder (Mounted on the top of the rear panel): As a remote extruder, it feeds filament from the buffer to the toolhead through a PTFE tube, effectively saving toolhead space and maximizing available print volume.
