This product is end of line and has been superseded by the PocketLab Voyager 2.

PocketLab Voyager is an all-in-one science lab that is capable enough for a professional engineer and simple enough for a 4th-grade student. Voyager can measure motion, light, magnetic fields, and weather, and you can attach an external temperature probe.

The Pocket Voyagers are perfect for data collection in the classroom. Units are user friendly, and require little training to become skilled in their use. Their connectivity to the free app is quick and simple, and the parameters of what is being measured is easily controlled and changed. The units have a multitude of possible applications, both in and out of the classroom. From simple acceleration experiments, to modelling head on collisions the Pocket Voyagers are the perfect hand held sensor and I highly recommended them.

Case Study

John Parlas from Mount Lilydale Mercy College recently sent a high altitude balloon 29km up into the atmosphere with a camera and Pocketlab Voyager strapped on. Below is a picture taken and a graph of the data collect on its journey. There's much you can do with the Pocketlab Voyager! John and his students are now planning on sending up a Pocketlab Air to enable them to gather more data on ozone, CO2, particulate matter levels. Have you also done some great experiments with Pocketlab? If you have, and would like to share, please drop us an email with the details.

PocketLab Voyager Sensor Functions

PocketLab Voyager works with the award-winning PocketLab app and the innovative VelocityLab app. Stream real-time data from multiple sensors to your device where you can view, graph, record, and save data as a spreadsheet.
PocketLab Voyager has the most features of any PocketLab and is great for physical science, weather and climate studies, engineering projects and more. View a comparison of the original PocketLab, PocketLab Voyager and PocketLab Weather here:

PocketLab Voyager Comparison

What is onboard memory? PocketLab Voyager and PocketLab Weather have onboard memory to store 30,000 data points. This can be used for situations where your device is out of range of the PocketLab, for example, weather balloons, high altitude rockets, underwater, or installed at a remote weather station. PocketLab Voyager and Weather can store data and then download it when you reconnect.

Our overall opinion is that it works great for such a small package and can do many things. The Bluetooth connectivity seems really good and stable…I suppose it should be OK with many working in a class environment. I like the way it operates with the web-based version and given that we are implementing Ipads it will be easy for students running the app. Very easy to change options and collect simple or more complex data sets. The small size and negligible weight is a plus – we have several uses where it will be invaluable for the boys. For example we plan to use it to optimise and troubleshoot our solar cars (combined velocity, acceleration and light data). Another plus is that it is easy to fix to our existing gear etc.
