The BBC micro:bit is a fantastic learning tool, but its three standard alligator-clip rings can quickly become limiting as your projects grow in complexity. The SparkFun Qwiic micro:bit Breakout expands the possibilities of the platform by connecting directly to the micro:bit’s edge connector.
This provides access to advanced communication protocols, including I2C and SPI, allowing intermediate and advanced users to easily integrate a much wider range of sensors, motors, displays, and other peripherals into their projects.
Features
Plug-and-Play Prototyping
Designed for effortless prototyping, this breakout board comes ready to use straight out of the box—no soldering required. Simply plug it into your breadboard and start building.
- Pre-Soldered GPIO: All 21 micro:bit GPIO pins are broken out to pre-soldered male headers, making it easy to connect the board directly to a standard breadboard.
- Dedicated Power: Power and ground connections are conveniently broken out to a pre-soldered 0.1-inch header for quick and reliable access.
Qwiic Expandability
Additionally, the board includes two Qwiic Connectors, providing quick and easy access to our extensive ecosystem of daisy-chainable I2C devices. Please note that the BBC micro:bit is not included with this breakout and must be purchased separately.
