The Kitronik :MOVE Motor for the BBC micro:bit offers an engaging way to explore buggy robotics. It’s more than just a programmable vehicle—mastering its built-in features helps aspiring roboticists build a strong foundation in the broader field of robotics.
The chassis comes pre-fitted with two bi-directional DC motors, offering variable speed control. Each motor has a rubber-tyred wheel that simply pushes onto the shaft—no tools or complicated setup required. Just slot your BBC micro:bit into the onboard edge connector, and you're ready to start coding.
You can program the :MOVE Motor using the Microsoft MakeCode editor, where Kitronik provides custom blocks to make coding your buggy simple and intuitive. The included booklet offers step-by-step guidance on using these blocks and writing your own code.
For those looking for a bit more of a challenge, the :MOVE Motor is also compatible with Python. Kitronik has created a GitHub repository filled with example MicroPython code to help you get started.
