In late 2023 Flashforge introduced two new 3D printers, the Adventurer 5M and Adventurer 5M Pro. Since then these models have gained immense popularity, but what sets the 5M Pro apart from the 5M?
Well for starters, the most obvious difference is that the Adventurer 5M Pro is a fully enclosed 3D printer which offers extra safety in a classroom setting as well as the ability to print with various materials, including engineering grade.
To print engineering materials safely you also require a filter system which is why Flashforge has included a two-layered filter system in the 5M Pro that not only works to protect your respiratory system, but also blocks 99% of particles and VOCs. Its dual filtration technology ensures both internal and external circulation, thanks to its HEPA13 and activated carbon filters.
The Adventurer 5M Pro also includes some nice quality of life upgrades that do not come with the Adventurer 5M such as a built-in camera for remote monitoring allowing you to chek on the progress of a print while your out and about as well as auto-shutdown which will automatically power off the printer 30 minutes after the print has been completed. The auto-shutdown time can also be reduced to either 15 minutes or 5 minutes.
The last main difference is what's included in the accessory box.
The Adventurer 5M includes the following;
- 1x Service Card
- 1x Power Cable
- 1x Allen Key Set
- 1x Screwdriver
- 1x Spool Holder
- 1x Grease Packet
- 1x Diagonal Pliers
- 1x Liquid Glue
- 1x Quick Start Guide
- 1x 50g Roll of HS PLA
The Adventurer 5M Pro includes all the above plus a 0.6mm Nozzle, USB and a 250g roll of HS PLA instead of the 50g roll.
If you are seeking a new printer for your collection or print farm and mainly use PLA, TPU, and PETG filaments, then the Adventurer 5M is an excellent choice. For teachers or those working with engineering grade filaments that require an enclosed printer, the Adventurer 5M Pro is the ideal model.
I hope this comparison has provided clarity on the differences between the Adventurer 5M and 5M Pro, aiding in your decision of which printer is best for your needs.
